The year is 3100. Humanity has evolved beyond its own imagination, flesh and blood becoming useless husks as technology enhanced the mind to the point of omnipotence. Emotions were foot notes in a text book and natural selection became a distant memory. Humanity no longer had anything to fear. They nothing more to care about, to aspire to or to live for. They needed to do something to prevent the eventual mass suicide of humanity.
The greatest minds gathered together in what was one Geneva, and the conference began. A project was decided upon. Like the god they once believed in, they would make a world. One where they could observe and note the interactions the creatures that lived there had and live vicariously though the relationships these beings had. Almost of of humanity was in favor, save for one, and Outcast. He believed it was humanity's time to die, to disconnect the life support and to slid into the dark oubliette[/b] of death. He was ignore, and cast aside as the others got to work.
In the space of three years, they created the most powerful computer they ever could. Within the million of trillion of miles of circuitry that lay inside it was the key to their future. The prevention of extinction and perhaps the rekindling of emotion. They installed a simulation of what they believed to be a calm time for humanity, where they rhythm of the world and humanity finally merged in harmony. That time was the year 2013, with a focus on Canada. Particularly, the City of Vancouver in British Columbia. To them, that was the city that kept enough natural roots and the right amount of technology to be truly fascinating.
However, the Outcast would not allow this to continue. Into the computer he placed a virus, an intelligent one. The other so worshiped the simulation. He couldn't wait to see their faces when the simulation turned all the precious data into monstrous viruses. Viruses designed to spread into humanity and bring about the final great death, as the Outcast called it. No one was the wiser when the started the simulation.
You exist within the confines of the cyberspace, perfectly unaware that your world if but a series of ons and offs. Your life is as you plan it to be, and will be observed, without your knowledge. To you, everything is real, and everything is alive. Enjoy the peace brought about, for soon everything will go wrong, the infection will spread and you will find yourself corrupted, like the rest of your friends.
